Omegle shut down in November 2023, and nothing quite replaced it for Ethiopians. The big global alternatives have two problems. First, several of them — OmeTV most notably — are effectively unusable from Ethiopia without a VPN, which costs money, eats data, and slows video to a crawl. Second, even when they work, you are dropped into a worldwide pool where actually meeting another Ethiopian is a lottery ticket.
Enedemer (እንደመር) was built to fix both. It is a free, one-to-one random video chat made for Ethiopians and the Habesha diaspora. It runs directly in your browser — Chrome on a cheap Android phone is enough — and it connects from Ethiopia with no VPN and no app download. Everyone you meet came there for the same reason you did: to talk with other Ethiopians.

Random chat means live conversations between strangers, and no service can pre-screen a live camera. Enedemer does not pretend otherwise: conversations are not moderated in real time. What you get instead are real tools — a NEXT button that ends any conversation instantly, a Report button that logs bad behavior, and automatic restrictions for users who collect reports. Random chat lives and dies by how many people are online at once. Enedemer's nightly peak is around 8:30 PM Ethiopian time (2:30 የምሽት). If you're in the diaspora, that's roughly 1:30 PM in New York, 6:30 PM in London, 7:30 PM in Frankfurt or Stockholm, and 9:30 PM in Dubai — a workable window for an after-lunch or evening chat with someone back home.
